From:Tony Alvarez
My entry is a Late model Tiger 1. I had enough spare parts from Tamiya and DML kits to put it together. I haven't worked on this in over a year. The turret and lower hull are mostly built. I used Tamiya Polyester putty to apply the zimmerit. I puttied all the easy (flat) sections but I got side-tracked by the more difficult to putty areas and eventually moved on to other projects.

My inspiration for getting back to this beast are three-fold:

1-I belong to SoCal AMPS and we are doing a group build of Tiger Tanks for the IPMS USA National contest in Colorado in 2013. I thought this could be one of my contributions to the group effort.

2-This Shelf Queen contest came along.

3-DML has been coming out with many German tanks with zimmerit molded in. In most cases their work is absolutely stunning. I did, however, want to see if I could do as good, or better, of a job at this than Dragon did. I have done a few zimmerit tanks before, some with putty, some with Cavalier or Atak resin appliques.

I had plenty of Tiger PE in the spares drawer and have applied the engine screens and fenders. Both are Eduard, I believe. I think that is an Armo barrel stuck in there for the coaxial MG. The alum cannon barrel came in the DML kit. I also have plenty of choice in tracks lying around besides the tracks that came with the original kits.

Thanks. Tony
