I picked up the Academy Warrior MCV Iraq 2003 kit at a local show pretty cheap and after looking at it thought "this will be a nice simple, fairly quick build". Well, with construction started, I have now found bunches of photos off the web, and slowly the AMS is creeping in. Why cant I just be satisfied with a kit as is! I am noticing weld beads missing, what looks like undersized finial drives, definitely undersized front tow shackles, and I haven't even looked at the turret yet! I am trying to figure out how far I can build before I have to put the non-skid on, where to put the non-skid, what detail I need to shave off and scratch build, do I REALLY need those aftermarket tracks, and it goes on. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy doing all that stuff, but I kind of envy my 10 year old, he just cuts out the parts and glues them on (trimming is optional) and thoroughly enjoys himself. How about you guys (and gals). Are you EVER able to just build a kit as is? Is there a kit out there that CAN be built as is (for us)? Does it matter to you? |
