Modelling / Kits
The Kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

  Tamiya Tiger I Initial Version 1/35 - Charlie Duckworth - Aug 9, 2012 (07:16:09)

Subject: Tamiya Tiger I Initial Version 1/35

From:Charlie Duckworth
I wanted to build a simple OOB Tiger I and recently bought the Tamiya Tiger I kit 35227 due to it's easy construction and several positive Internet reviews I've read. I believe the model was based on the captured Tiger at Bovington (and have the Haynes Tiger book). What is confusing is the only decal options in the kit are for the Tigers used in the 501st Heavy Tank Battalion whereas the model is based on a Tiger assigned to the 504th. Did Tamiya change some of the details to match a Tiger from the 501st or did they merely model a tank for the 504th and provide decals for the 501st?

Thanks for any input.
Charlie
